Boothman & Johnson is a manufacturer of excellent quality steam whistles. These whistles are exact duplicates of whistles that have almost become little more than memories. Each whistle copied is disassembled and exact patterns made from the original pieces. Each piece is then cast in brass or iron, (whichever the original was made from) and hand machined to the exact tolerances of the pattern. Once the whistle is assembled, each note of each separate chime is tuned to sing in harmony with the other notes. This produces a crisp clear sound. Not all manufacturers went to the trouble of tuning their whistles. Once the whistle is tuned, we blow the whistle with steam to ensure sound quality.

Boothman & Johnson also specializes in the repair or complete duplication of your old whistle. Many parts of old whistles are beyond repair and must be re-cast and machined to original tolerances. While this process is not inexpensive, it does make the whistle a working piece of history rather than just a display.
